Evolution de la sédimentation pendant le Néogène en Méditerranée d'après les Forages JOIDES-DSDP
Examination of the GLOMAR CHALLENGER cores in the Mediterranean Sea (Leg 13) enables us to distinguish three main lithological units in the Neogene series. The lower unit is composed of blue marls with a poor, or dwarfed, fauna. The marls are of Langhian, Serravalian and Tortonian age, and are very similar to the blue marls of the same age known on land (in the Rhône basin, Vienna Basin, the Panonic Basins, etc.). This suggests that the Vindobonian Tethys received a uniform type of sedimentation. [NOT CONTROLLED OCR], Les forages profonds en Méditerranée (Leg 13) du GLOMAR CHALLENGER permettent de dégager, dans les séries néogènes, trois grandes unités lithologiques. L'unité inférieure est formée de marnes bleues à faune planctonique pauvre. Elles sont d'âge langhien, serravalien et tortonien. Elles sont très semblables aux marnes bleues de méme âge connues à terre: Bassin du Rhône, de Vienne, Panonique, etc. Ceci suggère un type de sédimentation uniforme dans toute la Téthys vindobonienne.
