This document is the second version of a manual written in the framework of an international project aimed at harmonizing the sampling protocols, through bottom trawling, of demersal resources in the Mediterranean Sea (MEDITS program). It will be used as a reference document for the cruises that will be conducted in 1995 by Spanish, French, Greek and Italian research centres on continental slopes and shelves around these four countries. This manual describes the characteristics of the selected sampling device, as well as sampling methods and the samples processing. Finally, it describes data exchange media specifications.
