Un triglidé nouveau pour les côtes françaises de Méditerranée

Triglida Lepidotrigla cavillone (LACÉPÈDE) was, until recently, considered as the only member of the genus Lepidotrigla in the Mediterranean Sea. In 1965 AUDOUIN reported the presence on the Algerian coasts of a new species of Lepidotrigla that he temporarily named Lepidotrigla sp. During trawling cruises conducted by the vessel of the Institute of Marine Fisheries the "Ichthys" in the Gulf of Lion, a lepidotrigla, very different from the species Lepidotrigla cavillone, was collected. The morphological characters and the ecology of both forms were studied comparatively.
