Description
Atlantic forms of chaetognaths have been frequently observed in various spots in the Mediterranean, appearing randomly in catches. Several authors, including ourselves, have already cited several examples: Sagitta setosa, S. fiderici, Pterosagitta draco. We will review the available data on these species and then detail two other species that were previously considered to be indigenous in the Mediterranean Sea: S. tasmanica and S. planctonis. Both were collected during cruises on the "Thor" (1905-1911). We show that they these latter two species are non-indigenous.
