Description
Several species of the genus Hymenaster (Asteroidea) collected in the abyssal cruises Biaçores, Biogas and Polygas in the North East Atlantic Ocean make possible a synthesis of available data on the species known from the Atlantic Ocean. Two species H. reticulatus and H. tenuispinus are new to Science. A morphological comparative study is carried out for the 17 species reviewed and is presented in the form of a tabular key.
