Description
The dwindling of the stocks of some marine animals traditionally fished is driving the producers to consider the exploitation of species which were seen as of lesser interest up to now. Among the latter, cephalopods hold a specific position. In the first place, they are not a new resource so to speak, having been eaten in Asian and Mediterranean countries for a long time, and, above all, they've been the object of a growing interest for a few years now. It is encouraging to see that this tendency is very distinct in our country where it can be thought that producers and consumers are now aware of the value of this abounding species. The actions aimed at optimising their exploitation are thus facilitated but they suffer from the imprecision of the statistical data on the fisheries. This data is indeed necessary to evaluate the availability of the stocks and to direct the production through a rational management.
