Short lived algal species with an important biomass are the one thing most susceptible to disturb the good functioning of the pump houses of the Flamanville thermo-nuclear plant. In the biological cycle of Fugacious, Laminarials, Cystoseiraceae, Rhodymemials and, among Sargassaceae, Sargassum muticum, autumn is the season when algae are the weakest after their periods of maximal growth and reproduction. A high percentage of these algae is therefore likely to be released in the marine environment.
