Description
I carried out my training period within IFREMER in Brest, the biggest center of IFREMER which employs 1000 people. I worked on the electronic design and software development of a new generation of chemical analyzer and water samplers for high depth applications. The goal of those devices is to best understand the abyssal ecosystems trough physico-chemical parameters of the seawater. The project was led by the tutors of my work placement Philippe Dorval and Michel Hamon. This project started two years ago, and consisted in developing devices for high depth applications, highly integrated and of very low electric consumption. Concerning my internship, I had to develop the software of three devices of high depth. The first one is a chemical analyzer which can be established on a ROV, on a submarine in order to in situ analyze some revealing chemical parameters. The second one is a seawater sampler. Established too on a submarine, it offers the possibility to realize twenty five seawater samples with the capacity to incorporate directly some chemical reactive. The last one is an autonomous seawater sampler. It permits to follow the evolution of bacterial colonies in their environment. Totally automatic, it carries out its missions in complete autarky. My work took place during the whole year. Concrete solutions had been found to different problems as piloting an engine or the extreme minimization of electric consumption. The general functioning of those three devices had been tested and granted.
