Description
In order to study the possibility of using the activities of carboxylating enzymes as a test of the physiological state of the phytoplankton communities in the sea, we measure ribulose diphosphate carboxylase, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase on three diatoms. The three species show a greater activity of the ribulose diphosphate carboxylase, and an activity of the phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase is demonstrated on Phaeodactylum tricornutun and Nitzschia turgiduloides. This species, which comes from antarctic waters, is cultured at 5°C. It has an optimum of activity when the tests are run at 50°c.
