Marges actives : Pérou et autres exemples

New oceanographic data enable us to precise the geological phenomena linked to the convergence zones of two lithospheric plates. Taking into example the Peruvian continental margin, the subduction phenomenon of the Nazca plate under the South-American plate can be tackled. This subduction occurs in the domain which is immersed by seisms, volcanism, magmatism and tectonics. We present the geophysical and sedimentological data specific to the oceanic domain of the Nazca plate and follow its evolution as it reaches the Peruvian margin. Up until the Peruvian fault, the analysis is relatively easy.
