Notes sur certaines espèces ichthyologiques capturées au cours des campagnes de l'institut des pêches en méditerranée (1957-1961)

During the expeditions undertaken by the Fisheries Institute in the western Mediterranean Sea from 1957 to 1961, a hundred or so trawls were done off the northern coast, from Catalonia to Corsica, and some sixty trawls were carried out off the coasts of North Africa.Figures 1 and 2 show on the y-axis the depths in metres indicating the bathymetric zones that were trawled. The indications noted on the x-axis diagrammatically localise the geographic regions of the trawls. The recent work of C. Maurin (1962) provides more details.To date, a total 158 fishes have been captured in the western Mediterranean. Their frequency, abundance and bathymetric and geographic distribution were established with precision. We will only describe here some twenty of the fishes, due either to their rarity or to some particularity observed in their distribution. For many of these species, we will just mention their particularities.
