Observations sur les poissons du genre Sebastes (campagne océanographique de la Thalassa en Juillet - Août 1962 dans l'Atlantique nord-ouest

During the expedition of the "Thalassa" on the north-east American continental shelf covering the Gulf of Maine, the Nova Scotia Banks and the Newfoundland Banks, we studied a number of samples of rockfish. These observations involved two species, Sebastes mentella and S. marinus. The examination of our results with respect to the hydrological conditions also studied during this cruise helped established interesting correlations in the ecology of these two species. We hope that these data will contribute to our knowledge on the biology and ecology of the Sebastes genus on North American shores and that they will provide useful information for the rational exploitation of their stocks.
