Description
Fed by waters from the Bay of Biscay twice a day at its south-western corner, the triangle formed by Arcachon Bay is largely dominated by oceanic influences. It has a close relationship with the continent, in particular by seasonal inputs of freshwater which can occasionally alter the marine nature of the waters in Arcachon Bay. The hydrology of Arcachon Bay has been extensively studied. The most recent, and most complete, study (Le Dantec, 1968) demonstrated the heterogeneous nature of the bay, forcing the author to treat one by one each of the many channels that form at low tide. ...
