Etude comparative par electrophorese de Scomber Scombrus et Scomber Colias

Previous research on the mackerel's blood tissue dealt with, on the one hand, blood groups, and on the other hand, the immunology of serum proteins (BONNET, 1967). Their goal was to bring to light the possible existence of distinct races within the species Scomber scombrus. The study by electrophoresis of serum and crystalline lens proteins was undertaken with this same goal in mind. Its aim was, first of all, to determine biochemical characteristics that have a definite taxonomic value, which led us to compare the protein diagrams of Scomber scombrus and Scomber colias. The results obtained are the subject of this report, in which there are also data on the equipment and techniques used. Later research will consist in seeing whether some of these distinctive characters show species-wide variations according to fishing sectors.
