Description
Consequences of drought during the summer of 1976 are related. Principal component analysis allowed the division of the area into 5 main districts, each of them with distinctive hydrological and phytoplanktonic characteristics. The rivers Charente and Seudre are particularly eutrophic and carry great quantities of nitrates, phosphates and silicates. Eutrophic evaluation of the river Seudre is studied, as well as oyster mortalities that resulted. Reproduction and settlement of spat oysters are related to the hydrology of each district.
