Topographie dynamique et courants généraux dans le bassin occidental de la méditerranée au nord du 42e parallèle (supplément a l'étude hydrologique de septembre-octobre 1958)

The main circulation patterns described in the hydrological study of the sector in the Mediterranean Sea north of the 42nd parallel (Furnestin and Allain, 1962) were confirmed with data on the direction of general currents and their intensity.This study supplements the current dynamics study conducted during the summer of 1957 in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea (Allain, 1960) and provides data for comparing summer and fall current regimes, particularly in the Gulf of Lion.We used standard methods for dynamic calculations, which are described in a 1960 publication. We will directly discuss the vertical sections of current velocities on the 42nd parallel where observations were carried out down to the near-bottom, then we will examine the dynamic topography from the surface to a depth of 500 m.
