The idea of a french-canadian conference bearing on the environmental diseases and problems related to mol/usc aquaculture originated during the last meeting of the French-Canadian joint committee. ln consideration of the increasing problems that face both countries in this type of activity, mollusc aquaculture, and of the necessity of a joint effort to solve these problems, this conference will host some thirty french and canadian scientists on Tuesday, September 12, and Wednesday, September 13, 1995, at Arcachon, France. It should enable both parties to share the knowledge acquired and ideas with a view to unit their research efforts for the protection of shellfish consumers and to improve the environmental processes linked to the shellfish farms industry as a whole.
