Répartition bathymétriqué des euphausiacés dans le bassin occidental de la méditerranée

The data on the vertical distribution of Euphausiacea in plankton catches can lead one astray about the true behaviour of these organisms, either that the samples were done at night and with nets that do not have a closing system, as in some of the Thor nets, or that the device worked along the entire water column, from the bottom to the surface, without level accuracy. A painstaking examination of the quotes is therefore necessary. We have already done a detailed analysis of the data of authors prior to 1968 for all Mediterranean species (CASANOVA-SOULIER, 1968a). We are proceeding here with the interpretation of our personal results, the whole of which has led us to draw up a very complete table of the vertical distribution of Euphausicea in the western basin.
