Recherches sédimentologiques et géologiques en Manche centrale

In the framework of our research in the eastern and central Channel, the oceanographic vessel "Thalassa" (1) helped us dredge a rectangular area located off Cherbourg and situated between 0"30' and 2" longitude W and 50"05' and 500 14' latitude N.Our bottom dredges, using a Rallier du Baty drag of 47 cm in diameter, were carried out every three miles. At each station, the position of the vessel was defined in Decca coordinates and the depth was read on an echo-sounder. These positions were reported on the chart in figure 2 as well as the seabed topography which was extracted from SHOM (Service Hydrographique de la Marine) chart n°5085.
