Quelques éponges remarquables de méditerranée

The four species studied in this note come from very different locations in the Mediterranean Sea, either from the eastern part (Cape Matapan and Kastelorizo in Greece) or from the western part (off the coasts of Algeria and the Alboran Sea) of the sea. Two species were new and two had never been observed before in the Mediterranean Sea. These sponges are part of the large collection of sponges sampled on board the "Président-Théodore-Tissier" and the "Calypso" in the Mediterranean Sea. These collections probably harbour other interesting species, but these four sponges seemed quite particular in several respects and thereby warranted immediate study.
