The brochure for Ifremer’s Recreational Fishing Observation Programme outlines this data collection initiative by the Fisheries Information System, which aims to organise the collection of fishing activity data and biological data relating to recreational fishing. To this end, it draws on an estimate of the number of recreational anglers in France derived from previous studies. As various data sources are available, this initiative also organises their processing to provide the data to the French government and thus contribute to the sustainable management of fishery resources.
