Les chaluts. Conception, construction, mise en oeuvre

Since the publication, in 1964, of the handbook "Le Chalut" (the trawl), no other document dealing with all the related fishing tools has been published. The book has been sold out for a long time, and many demands from readers interested in a new updated version, could not be satisfied. The purpose of this new handbook is to satisfy this demand. As a long time has passed since this first publication, and important advances have taken place as far as fishing techniques and vessel equipments are concerned, this new document is not just an updated version but a whole new publication, especially for the trawl plans and the description of their implementation. This document is aimed at fishing professionals, seagoing persons: captains, skippers and other crew members, dealing with trawl fishing, as well as ship owners, marine superintendents and net or fishing equipment manufacturers. It will help trainers and trainees in fishing schools and improvement centres to complete their documentation, but also researchers and technologists from research institutes. Furthermore, it will be of a great interest for design offices and shipyards, which have to take into account trawls as work tools in the design and realization of trawlers. Finally, it will be used as a reference document by fisheries office managers.
