Description
The pout belongs to the Gadidae family, which can be defined as follows: Fish with a more or less long body, covered with small smooth scales. Soft fins, 1 to 3 for the dorsal fins, 1 to 4 for the anal-pelvic fins located below the throat. Swim bladder and pyloric appendix generally existing. The Gadidae family is the largest of the sub-order of the Anacanthini, among the teleosts.
