Description
All organs and tissues analysed in our study in Cancer irroratus showed variations in the water content during the intermolt cycle. For all tissues, except the exoskeleton, the pathway of variations for water content can be established as follows : increase of water content during the molt and to stage B1-B2, then decrease from B 1-B2 to the following molt. Significant correlations have been established, between the variations of water content in the different tissues and organs, except exoskeleton. Hemolymph takes a leading part in the variations observed in other tissues and organs. This is particularly obvious in the case of the gills. The influence on the water content of the periods of fasting and eating which occur during the intermolt cycle has been shown, particularly in the hepatopancreas.
