Description
The word "Krill" has been used, then largely adopted, to designate the enormous concentrations of Euphausiacea Euphausia superba in the Antarctic Oceanic areas which represent the largest part of whales' diet. From a scientific, taxonomic and biological point of view, this word "Krill" can be applied without any restriction to the summer concentrations of Euphausiacea appearing in July off the Cap Finisterre and named "Rouges de crevettes" (shrimps' reds) by albacore fishermen. The only difference is that these superficial concentrations are almost exclusively made up of another species of Euphausiacea, largely widespread in the whole North Atlantic Ocean: Meganyctiphanes norvegica whose size does not exceed three centimetres.
