Description
Setting oneself up in aquafarming is, before all else, about having a production plan that offers guarantees of profitability, and demonstrating this profitability in practise. As with any production business, its management is a series of decisions on the part of the company's leaders. These choices must take into account the company's revenue and changes in the environment. By environment we mean both new biological and technological discoveries as well as changes in the supply and production markets themselves. It is also the economic, social and institutional environment. As indicated at the beginning of this special issue, here we are interested more specifically in the economy of new aquafarming production. But these economics reminders can be partially applied to any similar activity. This article does not claim to exhaustively treat a subject that is quite vast, and that would require explanations specific to each type of farming. We will therefore limit ourselves to a presentation of the outline of the aquafarming economy while illustrating our topic with a few references to specific farms.
