Description
We studied growth and mortality of seedlings in the most luxuriant mangrove forests in the world. The study was carried out during a “super El Niño” episode that shifted to La Niña. Local climate regime shifts driven by ENSO can be stronger than those under climate change scenarios. Shifts in precipitation seem major factor in the ecology of neotropical mangrove forests.
