Description
The coast of the Gulf of Lion is punctuated by a long series of lagoons, most of which are still largely unknown, scientifically speaking. In Lower Languedoc, the largest lagoon, the Thau Lagoon, has attracted scientists' attention more than other lagoons due to its large surface area, its geographic location and its economic importance. In spite of numerous analyses that have been done, many of the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of this lagoon remain largely unknown. Wishing to contribute to our knowledge of this lagoon, I studied the ecology of two groups of benthic fauna, foraminifers and ostracods. Characterisation of these groups should help define what type of brackish formation the Thau Lagoon is....
