Description
At the end of the Second World War, a process of modifications to the production framework of the small fishing business sector began. This reorganising of the sector was oriented towards capital deepening, thus bringing on a change of the weight of various production factors. In fact, while the number of ships and sailors was decreasing, the power, size and gear of the small boats were increasing. The landed amounts lagged, even if a qualitative change in intake appeared, which brought, along with rising demand, an increase in current francs of the landings' value (MEURIOT, 1987). This technical evolution of the ships was largely helped by the effect of successive changes in the financing of production units and the effect of the positive changes of the multitude of subsidies allocated to this component of maritime fishing. It must be added that governmental will, from the 70s and the period of the Vile Plan, accelerated this mutation. However, although it has a certain number of distinctive economic specificities, the small-scale fishing sector is relatively unknown.
