Compte-rendu de l'atelier technique ODATIS - PEPR Grands Fonds Marins. Gestion des données issues d'échantillons en sciences de la vie et de la Terre

The ODATIS technical workshop, organized as part of the PEPR Deep-Sea Environments Priority Research Program, brought together more than 70 participants on 16–17 September 2025, both on-site at Ifremer in Plouzané and online. The objective of the workshop was to address a key challenge in deep-sea oceanographic research: the management of data derived from samples collected at sea. In a context marked by the rapid growth of data production, the diversity of practices across disciplines, and the fast-evolving landscape of international regulations (such as ABS, BBNJ, and CITES), the workshop aimed to review existing tools, share experiences, and collectively identify avenues for improvement. The event provided an opportunity to discuss issues related to the acquisition, traceability, archiving, and reuse of data and samples collected during oceanographic cruises, within a context of significant heterogeneity of practices and tools across disciplines and institutions.
