Description
Since 1973 some pectinides spat collection experiments have been conducted by the Fishery team of the Brittany Oceanology Centre, on two deposits exploited by commercial fishing: the roadsted of Brest and especially the St-Brieuc Bay The experiment carried out in 1973 was the first French attempt on this group of species and the results have been very encouraging: although the technology used was rudimentary, the best collectors enabled the collection of 30 to 50 king scallops (Pecten maximus) each and of 6,000 to 8,000 scallops (Chlamys varia and Chlamys opercularis).
