Description
In the framework of an ecological study of the abyssal zone of the Bay of Biscay, a new species belonging to a new genus of Annelida Polychaeta sedentaria, close to the family of the Flabelligeridae was discovered. Numerous morphological characters link Chauvinelia biscayensis gen. sp. nov. to a small family recently created, that of Fauveliopsidae. However, it remains difficult to establish the precise phyletic relationships of this peculiar genus.
