Description
The maps published here are an integral part of the wider scope of the marine vegetation map of France's coasts. The entire seaweed harvesting profession is demanding this programme, which has long been advocated by researchers (DAVY DE VIRVILLE, 1952, and MOLNIER, 1954). Considering the current state of research in this area, creating a programme like this could be designed in four successive stages: 1) Schematic map: survey and systematic run of the coast; 2) Detailed map of the shoreline's flora; analysis of aerial photographs; 3) Detailed map of the infralittoral flora; deep-sea diving; 4) Overall map of the marine vegetation of France's coasts: summary of the results, colour printout.
