Description
Two main conditions are necessary for the extensive culture of king scallop: 1.The getting of spats, 2.A good survival rate for these spats in their natural environment. These two criteria enable the definition of the technical standards giving way to an economic analysis. Until now, the only solution to a juvenile production is their collection in their natural environment, on high adult density deposits. At the time being, out of all the French deposits, that of Saint-Brieuc is the only one answering this characteristic. However, even in this case, spat collection has not yet reached the necessary reliability. Indeed, the amount of spat collected for a year will rely on two main factors: 1.The state of the brood stock, 2.The climatic conditions.
