Analyse économique et financière de la vénériculture. Perspectives de développement de la filière palourde d'élevage

Clam culture is a shellfish farming activity that has now entered a phase that will determine its future. After the first experimental trials and pilot projects, private investors have set this new aquaculture activity in motion. Today, the progress of clam production is conditioned, in part, on public authorities and financial organisations. On what basis should decisions be made so that appropriate choices are made for the development of clam culture, while respecting other users of coastal areas? This financial and economic study of clam culture seeks to give an overview of current clam farming by analysing operations that have entered the production phase. This approach to productivity of this activity will be done using classical financial analysis methods from the manager's perspective, in association with the different partners involved in the farming operation. Then, an economic analysis of investments will help set up a prospective analysis for coastal planning and the future of clam farming, which is confronted with biological, technical and economic limitations. In addition, a series of simulations using different variables that condition the revenues of the enterprise/business are carried out. This analysis was done with the goal of proposing some elements of discussion on the various avenues open to the development of clam culture in France with respect to the evolution of the economic environment of this activity. These economic and financial analyses will be extended with a chapter devoted to administrative and financial conditions necessary for creating a shellfish farm in general, and a clam farm in particular.
